Safety Terrell Burgess and skier Guro Jordheim were named Utah’s recipients Thursday afternoon of the Pac-12 Tom Hansen Conference Medal for the 2019-20 academic year.

Conference medals have been awarded annually since the 1960-61 academic year to one senior male and female student-athlete from each Pac-12 institution based on a combination of academics, athletics and leadership.

Burgess, an All-Pac-12 honorable-mention selection at safety as a senior in 2019, majored in kinesiology, was twice a Pac-12 All-Academic selection, was named to Utah’s AD Honor Roll four times, as well as the Dean’s List.

On April 24, Burgess was selected with the 104th overall pick in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams, one of three Utes selected over the course of the three-day event.

A mathematics major, Jordheim was named to the AD Honor roll three times, as well as the Dean’s List, while finishing her career as a seven-time All-American from 2017-20.

Jordheim led Utah to NCAA team championships in 2017 and 2019, while being named RMSIA Women’s Nordic Athlete of the Year and organization’s Nordic MVP in both 2018 and 2020. The RMSIA is the NCAA’s skiing-only conference, consisting of 11 members.
