‘Mormon Land’: From the priesthood ban to the ERA and LGBTQ rights, final ‘Saints’ volume covers pivotal moments

As the church continued to grow globally, social issues kept springing up.

(The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) Spencer W. Kimball, president of the church from 1973 to 1985, spent many hours pondering and praying for revelation on the priesthood/temple ban. On May 30, 1978, he announced a "revelation" during a meeting of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles that extended priesthood and temple blessings to all worthy members.
