Man riding electric scooter is struck and killed

Police say he didn’t stop at a red light and was hit by a car.

A man riding an electric scooter was killed on Thursday morning when he ran a red light and was hit by a car.

According to Salt Lake City police, the fatal collision occurred about 11:40 a.m. The scooter rider, whose name has not been released, was traveling on 600 South when he failed to stop at a red light and was struck by a car headed north on 500 East.

The victim died at the scene, according to police.
