The 1,000th California condor chick in a decadeslong restoration program has hatched at Zion National Park

(Photo courtesy Zion National Park) No. 409, a female California condor, recently hatched a chick in a nest north of Angels Landing at Zion National Park. The chick is the 1,000th hatched since efforts began in 1982 to restore the endangered species. The condor was photographed by Abi Farish, the park's visual information intern.
